Just stumbled across this site, well done for keeping the old job alive! It's nothing like it now. - Mike Wright (40 years and counting)

I worked in the Training Division at Carby House, Southend, from 1972 until 1990 - just on the end of the Waterguard era - though the quality training surviving from that era were still very much in existence. I then transferred to London Airport. I am absolutely amazed at this wonderful web site, which has brought back many memories. I don't underestimate the amount of time devoted to it. But then, you have an excellent co-hort in Eric Preedy, a colleague at Heathrow for many years! - Linda Winchester Skerrit.

What a fascinating website - interesting to see the good old days. I'm one your successors at Heathrow - all UKBA nowadays of course (I'll refrain from making any further comment). I've met a few of the chaps shown in the photographs of the training courses - interesting to see them when they had hair! Also had the pleasure of working with one or two - I'm not sure if there are an ex APOs left at Heathrow. Ray Thorpe who is in the photo of Course 80 retired last year. Keep up the good work. - Richard Best.

Hello. I am contacting this site on behalf of my father KEITH ROBINSON, who is not computer literate but very interested in this site! He appears in one of your Waterguard photos - 1950. He then went on to work at Heathrow as a Customs Officer until his retirement in 1985. He currently lives in Twyford, Berks. - Julie Thomson

Wow, what a trip down memory lane. My father and grandfather where both in the Waterguard service and appear on this site. I am going to show it to my mum tomorrow as she will reconise so many people, she is now 80 so will be a real trip down memory lane for her. Thank you for these memories. - Valerie Stewart-Toner
