'Happy Hour'
'Memories all seem to feature the bar in the Officers' Club.
I recall there was a rule that whilst there was a bird colonel in the bar it could not be closed. Dennis Page could tell jokes endlessly and as a consequence would keep the colonel entertained - sometimes until 3 o'clock in the morning! All to our general benefit!
Happy hour, 5pm to 6pm, was always enjoyed by us all but it was always noticeable that at 6pm the bar would clear leaving only the customs officers.
I also remember being in the bar when it was announced by the base commander that President Kennedy had been assassinated.' - David Nichols.
